Sweepstakes! Win One of 36 from the Peter Max Corvette Hoard

In Benefit to the National Guard Education Foundation

The Peter Max Corvette collection it’s a story familiar to every Corvette aficionado starting back 30 years ago when anyone that entered had a chance to win every year of Corvette made from 1953 to 1989.
In the words of the folks putting on the sweepstakes the Corvette Heroes, “Back in 1989, the then nascent cable TV network VH1 was looking to make a public splash in order to greatly expand its viewership, and a producer at the network came up with the idea of assembling the collection of 36 Corvettes and then giving them all away to one lucky winner.  Some two million people entered the contest, and the winner was a carpenter from Long Island.  Max purchased the entire collection from that carpenter soon thereafter.
But the Corvette Heroes are putting their own spin on the sweepstakes this time around. First, rather than one winner there will be 36 winners, greatly increasing the odds of winning a car, and second, they have decided that proceeds from the sweepstakes will go to American military veterans through the National Guard Educational Foundation.

In addition, the History Channel will air a special series called “The Lost Corvettes,” which documents the history of the cars and the restoration efforts by the Corvette Heroes.  The series premieres on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10 p.m.  It is produced by Bungalow Media+Entertainment; the CEO is Robert Friedman who, ironically, ran the 1989 VH1 give-away and is the executive producer of the new series.”
And now a word from the editors of Vette magazine. Who knows how these 36 Corvettes came factory equipped a peek inside the consoles of the 1984 -89 C4 Corvettes would reveal the SPID if indeed it’s still intact. It will be interesting to see when the Lost Corvettes documentary premiers on the History Channel Sept 21, 2019 if they get into the real nuts and bolts of an old Corvette and decode the VIN numbers to learn if one is a truly rare Corvette, or a garden variety version, but hey it really doesn’t matter it’s a Corvette collection we’re talking about and someone reading just might be a winner.
